Brendan, I'd Like a Word...

by LS Murphy

Dear Brendan,

It's been rough for you lately. I understand. Really, I do.

Now get over it.

You're a major league baseball player. You're a pro. Just do your job. You followed your heart and fulfilled your dream of playing under the bright lights of a major league stadium. You've seen the intensity of the playoffs.

So, you're one for twenty-three. So, you've made five errors in the last five games.

SHAKE IT OFF.

The only way to fix these problems is to work harder. Why are you not hitting? Easy for me to say but you're reaching for pitches that are so far out of the strike zone that Elasticman couldn't get them. You are pulling your head off the ball. And, I'm willing to bet money on this, you are over thinking at the plate.

Why so many errors? Duh. Stop thinking about what's going on at the plate when you are in the field. Stop thinking about your next move. Just play the game.

Brendan, Cardinals Nation loves you. But, quite frankly, it feels like you're being a pouty two year old these days. My advice, relax and remember why you play this game.

Sincerely,
Cardinals Nation
