BASEBALL'S Back

by LS Murphy

We waited through the cold hard winter for today. We bit our nails during the Hot Stove, hoping Matt Holliday would return. We suffered through Spring Training, waiting to see a game that actually counted.

Now it's here.

The St. Louis Cardinals are in Cincinati today to open the 2010 season. LaRussa announced his line-up yesterday with one little surprise.

Yadier Molina will be behind the plate.

During a spring training game, Yadi suffered an oblique strain. Those pesky oblique strains are tricky. A player will feel fine and ready to go then they feel the pain all over again.

I respect Tony and the trainers. I love Yadi. But this makes me nervous.

Yadier Molina is far too valuable and the season is far too young to risk further injury. Let's just hope they are right and he's good to go. Opening Day in St. Louis wouldn't be the same without Yadi behind the plate.

  1. I agree with you why send him out there to start the season, can't imagine what it is like to catch with an oblique strain. Of course Molina hit a Grand Slam today so today the strain might not have been so bad, but that just proves how valuable he can be. What a start to the season though, nice to get the ball rolling right out of the gate by helping the Reds confidence go down already.

  2. How about Pujols the guy just keeps on hitting year after year, great win today.
